Mariposa Wildlife Habitat encompasses 1000 acres of ranch land in the Hill Country of Texas approximately 15 miles west of Junction on Interstate 10 on Kimble County Road 275 about 2.5 hrs west of Austin. The North Llano River borders the property on the north. The Bois d’ Arc Creek and Bear Creek, fed by a spring, run through the property. A depression era house which once served as a hunting lodge now accommodates guests. A split log 10' x 10' turn-of-the-20th-century barn is being restored. I'm one of a handful of people that help run the retreat.
